Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

He should have walked after Cyprus.

Pat Behan, Tallaght.

Anonymous said...

Yes go... or be pushed

Anonymous said...

He has to go he hasnt a clue, as for Delaney and the rest of the FAI.

Anonymous said...

David Crawley for Stan to go.

Anonymous said...

Out now.

Anonymous said...

Good player severd his country well during his playing career, but should never have appointed a manager so inexperienced. He should have and a shakeup at FAI HQ is needed to bring in some proper leadership.

Anonymous said...

Same old story with the FAI, couldn't make the right decision if there was only one option in front of them. In their defense there was no stand out candidate, there will be in a couple of years when Keano gets more experience but as it stands, I'd stick with Staunton for this campaign and bring in Keane in Summer 08.

Anonymous said...

jesus i think he has the i.q with that of a pigeon he has to go hes as dumb as a box of bricks just listen to him how could you be motivated by a bloke that sounds like hes a door to door carpet sales man

Hiring Steve was a knee jerk reaction to a managerial vacany and a crowd pleasing stunt that has gone badly wrong. Whilst the players must accept some blame, leaving Steve in charge is like leaving a long-tailed a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.....Disaster!!!!

Anonymous said...

get john sheridon in there now look what hes done at oldham
sorry stan but ply your trade first.i wouldnt let someone cut my hair if they never done it before so why appoint a "woldclass manager"who has never managed fai has a lot to answer for j.delany out with stan

Anonymous said...

The FAI are the ones to blame. Sacking Kerr with the excuse of getting "a big name" then appointing a man with no experience, typical fai bollocks. Recent results are unacceptable stan and delaney must go.

Anonymous said...

delaney appointed stan because he is a pushover. No other manager would take his bullshit!!! Let delaney take his world class management team and feck off. Anything is better than this. We have a good crop of yougsters coming through and need someone to guide them properly. Next panel Duff and Keane to be dropped!!

Anonymous said...

He has got to go. A disgrace...

Anonymous said...

Steve Staunton is a stocking of shite and has to go before it bursts and ruins us forever.

Stan has no experience at this level. Bray Wanderers would have beaten that crowd of carpenters.
He lacks quality even for the tv interviews.

Anonymous said...

he cannot deal with the players or the press,he really thinks he is able for it which makes it worse,a man so inept it defies belief,he has the qualifications of a compulsive quitter

Anonymous said...

FAI should have paid good money for one man not crap money on Stan and middleish amt of money on an advisor. Loads of managers out there with experience who would have done a better job. FAI and Delaney messed us up when we have a good mixture of youth and experience

Anonymous said...

Stephen Kenny come on down!

Anonymous said...

purple monkey dishwasher.....

Anonymous said...

Ireland should get Jan Veenegoor of Celtic as manager, well Mr Kermit Delaney cant get a much bigger well longer name than that, get rid of Staunton and Delaney bring back Fran Rooney and Brian Kerr

Anonymous said...

stan the scarecrow was in the wizard of oz plenty of heart but no brain

Anonymous said...

Time for Stan to go - No experience of top class management is really showing now - That game against San Marino was like watching an U-9 game - Robbie Keane should be stripped of the captaincy and it should be handed to Shay Given

OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT

An International Manager must use his strongest 11 available players. Squad systems dont work at international level. Sadly I think steve staunton is trying to build a team he wont be around to manage

Sorry Steve, you were a legend as a player but you're simply not good enough. Time to go. It's not your fault though that you're useless. I blame Delaney. What a muppet.

Anonymous said...

Worst player ever to get to 100 caps and now it turns out he wasn't even a coach at Walsall, just a player. Staunton and Delaney out now. What a joke.

Evil Ninja said...

Staunton has all the motivational skill of a dead fish. It is not his fault per se, rather Delaneys fault for hiring him. If I was hiring someone for a 400k job, I would 100% insist on some previous experience or qualifications!! Its ludicrous. Let him learn on the job at walsall or Cork City, not my country!!!!

He'd be a fool to resign. He'd be better to hold on until they sack him. That way he'll get compensation. It was a big mistake to hire him in the first place - Paul Merson was his boss for Christ's sake... but most of us knew that was the case. It was only a matter of time before it got to this.

Anonymous said...

To that shane dude: Feck off sayin let staunton train cork city. At least city are good. Let him stay with the boys in green and train a bunch of premadonna wasters!!!

Anonymous said...

He was brave enough to face the media when Keane was sent home so the fecker is getting what he deserves now.

Anonymous said...

Who ever hired him should go as well, sack the FAI. Stan you've died on your arse!! Bye Bye.

It is a shame, because he was a good servant for Ireland, but Steve Staunton is and was the wrong man for the job. The F.A.I have not even got the brains to hire a pr to help him out, he is drowning and they won't save him. Nice guy, but has to go.

Anonymous said...

he hasnt got a scooby doo out now

Anonymous said...

Can't help but feel sorry for him.served our country well but has not got a clue as manager.Does not deserve all the abuse..How about we get a petition to get rid of that delaney FUCKER!!

Anonymous said...

i have to disagree with ye. i think everyone thinks we have a good team the are all young. the greats are gone and he be given a chance. they said the same about jack when he took over get him out and look what he did. we havent the star team we had so let till the euro and see then. it takes time to get a team that young to work as a team. i say come on stan!!!!!! we are all aloud 2 say what we feel. WE JUDGE TOO FAST LADS

Anonymous said...

delaney has done a lot for irish soccer. some supporters ye are just one team ye think we have. every town has a team. look at the bigger thing lads..........

It reminds me of that Father Ted episode about the eurovision contest! I had a lot of respect for the man and god love him you do feel sorry, but ya have to wonder, if the interview on this site is anything to go by, what was his feckin 'job' interview like??

Anonymous said...

I really don't blame Stan. He was a novice, offered a prestigious job, by a clown, (John Delaney). The reality now is, they both have to go,to give Ireland any chance of qualifying for Euro 2008. Incompetence at the highest level. :0(

Anonymous said...

the kennys are doing wonders for phoenix fc first team the would be missed by our first team but fuck me they have better credentials than "the gaffer"

Still at least the groundsmen in croker are lookin forward to the soccer team playin there........ the pile of shite stan's gonna send out can only be good for the pitch!

Unknown said...

It seems that Stans appointment was made because he got on well with Mr. Delaney, and that is just not the way that Irish football should be ran and organised. Theres also the fact that both of them seem to be utterly inept...........the players aren't helping the situation either...........its all a bit of a mess..............

we have to get rid of the pimps, pushers, gaffers & prostitutes, start all over again ..........clean

Anonymous said...

Stan - Do the decent thing. For the good of the team, irish football and the reputation you and others helped to establish, PLEASE RESIGN NOW.

were going to be lead into false hope if his future depends on 2 home games in croke park.what group of players could not lift there game while playing.stan cop on and do whats best for the team & the fans and stand down.

Anonymous said...

stan has already ruined the next generation of soccer players because kids dont want to play soccer any more. cause we have no heroes robbie keane is an imposter an duffer hasn had a decent game since sweeden . he should pick the team on merit hunt, conolly an that deserve a go.if you dont believe me about the kids try buy the soccer jersey this weeken an then try get the rugby jersey

Anonymous said...

i think its time for the gaffer to go,,i knew things weren't go to plan around the 60th minute when the gaffer called me over and said in the only way stan does "mick warm up i need ya to do a job for me"..he told me to go on and do a job on san marinos infuential number10.bobby had heard a rumour he was to be signed by barcelona and he had to stopped..so i came on and took him out of it and came back off for stokesy..we won 2-1.in the dressin room after stan gave a rousing speech it went something like this "Job Done".told me i start against the welsh..he's lost it.

Anonymous said...

what do we want staunton out!!!! when do we want it....now!!!!

Anonymous said...

Its oh so very sad.....We used to have low expetaions and went to soccer games for the craic but the Celtic Tiger has mad a hard job for Stan.

Anonymous said...

Keano is the only man

Anonymous said...

It's time to get off the bus, Stan!!!

Anonymous said...

He is terrifyingly out of his dept...no strenght, no character,no nothing...brings absolutely nothing to the table....Are him and delaney brothers??? both extremely dour men..they could be!!

Anonymous said...

Cyprus I could forgive in the name of teambuilding and trying to see the raw material but San Marino is not pardonable. Imagine playing 4 at the back against the worst attack in the world. We looked like we did not know how to play around an amatuer team. I have played with Junior teams who would do a better job. It's not all the players, they must have direction and Mr. Staunton obviously cannot give them that.

Anonymous said...

stan go for the love of our grandchildren go

He served his country well as a player.
However he showed his back bone in Saipan when he sided with the heavies McCarthy, Bonner, Quinn (and that legendary English man who stood between the sticks to represent Ireland on "how" many occasions.... Alan Kelly).
After that all respect for the man was lost.
He only got the job cause he roped in poor ole Bobby Robson as an added extra.
Their is more than 1 tool in this box. How John Delaney is deemed competent of any administration roll is beyond belief.
The players are also to blame. The English game in comparison to the Spanish and Portages is substandard. Way to much money and not enough pride. Damien Duff is a prime example of this.
Why is it that our young hopeful players have to automatically go to England or Pelé forbid dreary Scotland.
Tony Cas, liam Brady and David Connolly all had fantastic seasons on the continent. Gary Kelly is 32 and playing for Levante in la liga.
Heres a crazy suggestion. Remember when the dutch brought in "total football" the world saw how the beautiful game was meant to be played and didn't Holland look great on the world stage.
Here is a reality check. It would be fair to say that England or Scotland will never win the football world cup. What bout 66 i hear the ye cry. Ok I mean legitimately. Open up another stream and I'll argue that point.

The bottom line, cream always rises to the top.
If their was someone in the FAI with any motivation and national pride here is a suggestion for you.

Argentina are a recognizable football talent who have won the world cup twice and were arguably the best team @ Germany06. An interesting fact is that Argentina was the number 1 choice (of non English speaking countries)for many Irish people to imigrate to down through the centuries.
We have alot more in common with the Argies than our great opressers.
FAI r u listening??? send the kids to Argentina and see how they get on.
Brazilian samba school is a circus and money spinner, so dont go their.
Send the best 30 10-12 year olds every year for five years. Put the channels in place where they have for nothing. We know ye have the money.
The current batch are mostly pre-madonas who dont seem to understand what Croke park and pride mean. You cant buy it lads. They dont deserve to play their, not yet.

Being Irish isn't a blessing, but feeling it...is!

I never knew there were so many perfect people in Ireland.Give Stan a chance, we ran out Mick then we ran out Brian, when will we learn. Those people calling for Roy, what makes them think that he would turn up.As his track record shows we would have have to play every second game without a manager

Anonymous said...

in the name of god, go

Anonymous said...

in fairness to the guy he did bring lee carsley back!:) but sadly by doing that has made ireland into a one man team!:( go on the bald pele!

Anonymous said...

He has to go. I was wary at first but decided he had to have some time to try and show what he couuld do. Now he's shown what he can do - nothing! Run forest run!

Anonymous said...

i fink my dad should be manager so he can eventually become manager of england!does anyone know if they will be playing god save the queen against wales after its success the last time??come on the carslynator!

Anonymous said...

As much as I'm usually supportive of anything that can preserve the Gaelic Games' rightful place as the national sports of Ireland, driving the national soccer team into the ground is not the way to do it. So I'm boycotting all FAI merchandise and all FAI sponsors until heads roll.

Anonymous said...

Stan was a great player for us over the years but is sadly out of his depth and the water wings have finally burst!! The time has come for him to perform his last act for the country and fall on his sword, it would be better that he is remembered as the player he was rather then the joke he has become.
It is truly a sad day when the best we can hope from a qualifying campaign is a better co-efficient for the draw for the world cup.

garytallaght said...

great player, but has no experience as manager. if he cares about the footall of this country he should step down.he knows hes not up to the job. step down stan and let us get an experienced manager while we have good young players. you have to go stan

Anonymous said...

Steve Staunton is not a manager, he's the equivalent of a Polish labourer on an international scale - as cheap as they could get. It's the FAI's heads we should be calling for, they have been messing around for too long, and a decent generation of players is being wasted on money saving initiatives. Sack Delany et al, and let Stan bow out gracefully. His sweet left foot deserves it.
